Dynamic 3-D blooms put a fashion-forward spin on traditional floral details. Whether they're around the collar, off the sleeves or tucked away in the folds of a ball gown, 3-D flowers add texture and dimension to any wedding dress silhouette. Inbal Dror, Lela Rose and Angel Sanchez all included this pretty trend in their latest collections.
  2. Wedding Dresses With Detachable Skirts

Wearing a more traditional gown down the aisle and then slipping into a slinkier number for your reception is all the rage right now. Enter the convertible wedding dress. Detachable skirts make for a seamless outfit change while also doing away with the hassle of bustling your gown. Jim Hjelm, Monique Lhuillier and Amsale are just a few of the designers who showcased this trend in their collections.
    2. Wedding Dresses With Fluttery Sleeves

Fluttery sleeves are a must-have for two reasons: They add a touch of vintage-inspired whimsy to a simple silhouette and flatter your upper body. Delicate fabrics like lace and chiffon make this flirty style of sleeve feel especially dainty. Matthew Christopher, Sarah Seven and Claire Pettibone all got in on the fluttery sleeve trend.

Choosing a Wedding Dress Style

Choosing a Wedding Dress Style

Can't quite find your inner bride? We're here to help!
By Hollee Actman Becker

You've been dreaming about buying a wedding dress since the very first time you draped a white pillowcase over the back of your head. But now that you're finally ready to walk down the aisle, you're not quite sure what type of bride you'd like to be. Should you go with a traditional look? A modern one? Or are you more of a bohemian? And what about your groom? Is he a tuxedo and bow tie kind of guy? Or is he more comfortable in linen pants and a blazer? Whether you choose a formal candlelit ceremony, a spiritual setting, or a laid-back island style, here are a few tips for dressing for the occasion.

Find Your Inner Bride

Before you start shopping for your dream dress, take a minute to close your eyes and envision yourself as a bride. What do you see? Are you wearing a full ball gown with your hair in romantic ringlets? Or are you outfitted in an ethereal, flowing dress, with loose hair sprinkled with flowers? Write down six adjectives that best describe how you want to look and feel on your wedding day, such as summery, traditional, princess, sexy, sophisticated, over-the-top. Then have your groom do the same and compare notes. If you're thinking full royal regalia and he's thinking beach wedding and bermudas, you may have your work cut out for you. Try using a religious custom, an aspect of the way you met, or something near and dear to your hearts -- swing dancing, horseback riding, the '20s -- to set the mood instead.

Celebrate Your Setting

Another thing to consider: the formality of your ceremony and the features of the site. While every bride and groom should feel free to choose the wedding style of their dreams, their attire should also reflect the time and place of their nuptials. A formal candlelit ceremony is not the time for a bride to be sporting a short sundress, the groom a morning coat and ascot. Nor is an afternoon garden party the place to break out the cathedral-length veil, top hat, and tails. If your wedding is outdoors in a breathtaking locale, choose an equally romantic look for your ceremony -- say, a flirty ankle-length dress with embroidered leaves and vines. Likewise, if your party is planned in a proper reception hall, consider more classic to-be-wed ensembles that mimic the mood, or celebrate your inner cool catness with a sleek asymmetric gown and a monochromatic look for the groom. Go for drama in a theater environ with a vintage tux and over-the-top gown. And embrace the setting at a beach wedding with a two-piece dress, a pair of sheer flowing pants or a daring white bikini; have your groom don a Hawaiian shirt and swim trunks.

Pay Attention to Details

That said, there are ways to incorporate your personal sense of style into any ceremony -- no matter what the location. It's all in the details. Whether your motivation comes from the "something old, something new..." tradition, or the "I'm-going-to-do-this-MY-way" credo, accessories are the easiest way to add a few unexpected touches of personal style to your setting. If you're a classic country bride, why not have your groom slip into a pair of cowboy boots and a lariat? If you're Scottish, don a kilt. Are you athletes? Change into running shoes for the ceremony. If you're the starving artist types, make it Birkenstocks. Even if you decide to go the straight up, by-the-book traditional route, you're still communicating your own personal sense of style. How? The ageless Grace Kelly gown, a string of pearls, a classic tux, the perfect pair of gold cufflinks... all timelessly elegant. Just like you.

How To Choose Women’s Evening Dress For A Special Occasion

How To Choose Women’s Evening Dress For A Special Occasion

There is no rocket science in understanding that women love parties, they feel elated when they are about to attend one. But at the same time they often get confused over what to wear for the particular even. Choosing a nice evening dress for an occasion, the one thing which you need the most is the common sense. There are so many things to be taken care of when you choose a dress for a special occasion. Now, in this guide, I am going to give you some tips for choosing a dress for an event. I hope these guidelines will help you in making selection.
  • At first, you should be well aware of the event for which you are going to choose your evening dress. And then think of who is going to accompany you and who are all will be present in that event.
  • When we talk about the common sense, you must know that a colorful dress is not OK for a funeral and don’t wear a sexy dress for a formal occasion. So, your choice must be sensible.
  • Always check your comfort level. Any dress you choose, you must be comfortable into that. A nice dress enhances your confidence and makes you feel great whether it is knee high or drapes your floor.
  • If your height is shorter then you should go for vertically stripped skirts and shirts would be fine because it would make you look taller. You can also go for v-necks and vertical pleats. If you are a taller person then you should go for horizontal stripes kind of dress. You can choose horizontal features like frills, hem lines and waist lines.
  • When you are going to choose colors then go for colorful dresses for the parties and festivals. But when going to choose for any formal occasion then you should choose either black and white or any dark and light color combinations.

Finding the Right Special Occasion Outfit

Finding the Right Special Occasion Outfit

If you have a special occasion coming up, you’re probably on the hunt for the perfect outfit. Whether it’s a holiday party, a wedding, or a corporate event, you need a special occasion outfit that is going to be suitable for the event and makes you look absolutely stunning. The problem is that there are so many different styles and colors of dresses and other outfits, it can sometimes be overwhelming trying to decide which one is the right one.
There are many ways to determine if a specific dress or suit will be suitable for a particular occasion. There’s the style of the dress to take into consideration, as certain styles and lengths are more suitable for some events than others. There’s the way the dress fits you that you need to take into consideration as well because if the dress doesn’t fit your body right, then it’s absolutely the wrong dress to wear. And then there’s the color of the dress to consider as well, as some colors may not be appropriate for particular events.

Type of Event

The first thing you need to do before choosing your special occasion outfit is to determine what type of event it is that you’re going to. Are you going to a wedding as a guest? Are you attending a holiday party with friends and family? Are you attending a high-status charity event? Are you going to a party or gathering for the company you work for? The suitable clothing options vary greatly depending on what type of event it is.
In addition to knowing the type of event it is, you’ll also need to know what kind of attire is usually required for that type. For instance, if you’re a guest at a wedding, you’ll probably want something in the semi-formal to formal range. If it’s a holiday party you’re going to with friends and family, the attire may be casual or it may be semi-formal. If you and your significant other are going out to dinner to celebrate your anniversary at a nice four or five star restaurant, you’re going to want a semi-formal to formal evening dress or cocktail dress.
So knowing the type of event you are attending as well as the type of clothing that is typically required at such an event will help you to choose clothing that will be suitable for the event.

Clothing Styles

Obviously, you don’t have to wear a dress to the event you are attending as there are many pant suits and other such clothing items that would be suitable to wear as well. However, since most women would probably choose to wear a dress to such events, that will be the focus of these tips and suggestions for how to choose the right special occasion outfit for you.
There are many different styles of dresses from A-line to mermaid style and Cinderella style dresses. Most of these different styles are appropriate to wear to multiple different types of events, so the style of the dress you choose is pretty much completely up to what you like and what looks good on you. One thing you might want to keep in mind though is that some dresses fall too much on the sexy side to be appropriate for some occasions, so be mindful about the sexiness of the dress and if it might be a bit too much for your event.
The length of the dress is something you might want to consider as well. If you’re going to an event that calls for formal white tie attire, then you’re going to want to wear a long ankle or floor-length dress. If you’re going to a black tie event, knee length should be the shortest you choose, although calf length or longer would be better. If the event is formal but not quite black tie formal or if the event is semi-formal, any knee-length dress or longer would be appropriate. Some women are able to pull off above-the-knee dresses quite well and do wear them to such events, but typically, dresses that short aren’t the most appropriate dresses for formal events.

Dress Colors

For the most part, any color dress you want to wear, you can wear to the event you’re attending. However, there are some loose guidelines about which colors are most appropriate to wear to particular types of events that you can go by if you’d like to.
For instance, neutral tones, such as whites, tans, beiges, are acceptable to wear to just about any party or event you attend. However, if you’re going to a wedding and the bride is wearing the traditional white wedding dress, it would be courteous to go with a different color for your own dress.
Dresses in pastels like lavender, yellow, powder blue, or light pink are great colors to wear to events that take place in the spring or summer seasons. While darker shades and jewel tone colors such as ruby, emerald, burgundy, forest green, and navy are best suited for events during the fall and winter seasons. However, there’s nothing wrong with wearing a burgundy dress to an event in the spring time, if that’s what you want to wear.
The best way to choose the color of your dress is by making sure the color complements your skin tone and other features. For example, if you have a pale complexion, you don’t want to wear a dress that is going to enhance that paleness, such as black or other dark colors. You’d be best to go with a lighter colored dress. If you have gorgeous blue eyes, you might want to look for a dress in a shade of blue that will help pull attention to your eyes.
Overall, choosing a special occasion outfit should be a fun and exciting activity and not one that is filled with anxiety and stress. It won’t be the end of the world if the dress you fall in love with and want to wear to the event you’re attending does not fit exactly into the typical dress codes for such an event. If the dress looks amazing on you, then you should wear it.
